Within walking distance of Vienna’s most beautiful sights

There’s so much to see and do in Vienna right outside our door. Just a few steps from the Benediktushaus, also on the Freyung, is the Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien (Freyung 8), an exhibition venue focusing on artists from the classical modernism and post-war avant-garde periods. A visit to the Palais Ferstel just opposite is highly recommended, with its exceptional arcade (the Ferstel Passage) – an important example of late-romantic historicist architecture, and also the location of the renowned Café Central.

The Hofburg palace, Burgtheater and Rathaus (City Hall) as well as many museums are also just a few minutes’ walk from the Benediktushaus; a short stroll through Vienna’s city centre will bring you easily to the Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral). The city centre’s most significant sights and cultural attractions are also accessible on foot from the Benediktushaus.

Various company headquarters, ministries, educational institutes and the main building of the University of Vienna – with which Schotten Abbey has been closely associated since 1365 – are also a stone’s throw from the Benediktushaus.
